House Armed Services Committee

The Committee retains jurisdiction of all subjects listed in clause 1(c) of rule X of the Rules of the House of Representatives and retains exclusive jurisdiction for: defense policy generally, ongoing military operations, the organization and reform of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy, counter-drug programs, acquisition and industrial base policy, technology transfer and export controls, joint interoperability, the Cooperative Threat Reduction program, Department of Energy nonproliferation programs, and detainee affairs and policy.

Congressman LoBiondo sits on the following subcommittees:


House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee

The Committee currently has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation: aviation, maritime and waterborne transportation, roads, bridges, mass transit, and railroads.  But the Committee has jurisdiction over other aspects of our national infrastructure, such as clean water and waste water management, the transport of resources by pipeline, flood damage reduction, the economic development of depressed rural and urban areas, disaster preparedness and response, activities of the Army Corps of Engineers and the various missions of the Coast Guard.

As a senior member of the Committee, Congressman LoBiondo is tasked with serving as Chairman of the Aviation Subcommittee. The Subcommittee oversees civil aviation policy, aviation labor, aviation commerce, safety and security, unmanned aircraft systems, and the majority of programs of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

The Committee is primarily charged with the oversight of the United States Intelligence Community, including the 16 intelligence agencies of the US Government. It shares some jurisdictional overlap with other House committees associated with defense and national security issues. Appointment to the Committee is at the discretion of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

As a senior member of the Committee, Congressman LoBiondo was asked by HPSCI Chairman Devin Nunes to chair the newly-created 10-person CIA Subcommittee, which has jurisdictional oversight over the CIA programs and Central Intelligence Agency Retirement Fund.
