Jul 27, 2017

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Frank A. LoBiondo (NJ-02), Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee, today announced $3,668,030 in federal funding to the Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA) for the Millville municipal airport. The discretionary federal funding will go towards rehabilitation of the runway and runway lighting. Since 2004, Millville airport has received more than $21 million federal dollars for improvement projects.

“A key strategy to bringing additional economic opportunities to South Jersey has been the growth and development at our local airports. With more than $100 million invested at various facilities over the past decade, we have made substantial improvements to South Jersey’s community airports, such as Millville, to attract more businesses and more jobs," said LoBiondo. "Today’s funding builds on the great success in securing federal dollars for the Millville airport. I will continue to work closely with the DRBA, local officials and the FAA to bring additional federal resources to our region."

“On behalf of the DRBA Commissioners and staff, we would like to thank Congressman LoBiondo for his efforts to secure this vital funding that will rehabilitate an important runway and improve lighting on the airfield,” remarked Thomas J. Cook, Executive Director of the Delaware River and Bay Authority.  "General aviation facilities, like Millville Airport, rely on federal funding for infrastructure and security improvements that are necessary for continued aviation success as well as sustainable business development. With Congressman LoBiondo’s leadership, we look forward to working with city leaders and county officials to position Millville Airport for future development opportunities.”

The federal funding announced today is a discretionary award from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
